Actress Julie Gayet is suing Closer for a breach of privacy after the tabloid printed pictures of her alleged affair with French President Francois Hollande.

A spokesman for Closer confirmed the lawsuit with AFP. The French actress is looking for damages of 50,000 euros, in addition to 4,000 euros in legal costs.

If Gayet should win the lawsuit, which is helped by France's rather strict privacy laws, Closer will be required to use its cover page to print the legal verdict. Hollande decided not to sue, but has condemned the tabloid for the pictures, saying his "indignation was total."

Despite the legal trouble, Closer doesn't seemed fazed as the pictures have really helped sales, according to The Independent. The tabloid said it will likely sell 600,000 copies of the affair edition. Closer will also be publishing a new edition on Friday that is supposed to contain new information and photos.

French first lady Valerie Trierweiler went into the hospital last Friday following the affair reports, but it was only supposed to be for "rest and a few tests."
But she has remained in the hospital since being admitted last week and there was no update provided by her partner Hollande during a news conference where he condemned Closer.
