Keir Pearson, the Oscar-nominated writer of the film, Hotel Rwanda, is on board to create a new biopic about Mother Teresa.
Pearson will look towards Kolkata, India, and Tijuana, Mexico for material about Mother Teresa. He will begin writing at the end of the February, according to Variety.
The new film will be called I Thirst. I Thirst will tell the story of Mother Teresa, the Roman Catholic Religious Sister who founded the Missionaries of Charity and became an icon after working with the destitute in India. Legal trustees of Teresa's estate have given this project not only a stamp of approval but also access to rarely seen archives.
Tony Krantz, former head of Imagine Entertainment’s television, is working with Origin Entertainment and the Mother Teresa Center to bring the film to audiences. Krantz told The Hollywood Reporter, "The Missionaries of Charity and the people who are in charge of her legacy have been interested in telling her real story and putting her out there as a real human being -- a real woman who had a sense of humor, who was tough, was smart, and who was up against major odds."
