KISS, who can soon officially be called Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, has signed on to perform at the first outdoor NHL hockey game in Los Angeles ever. The game between the LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks is set for Jan. 25 at Dodger Stadium.
The NHL made the announcement on Thursday, confirming that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer will perform before the game starts and during the game’s first intermission.
“Los Angeles is the premier hub for sports and entertainment in this country and we are honored to be part of an event that fuses both by rocking the first-ever outdoor NHL game in LA,” singer Simmons said in a statement. “Fans can expect a spectacle at Dodger Stadium, similar to the one we will be creating at the Honda Center this season with our new Arena Football team, LA KISS.”
Of course, the team Simmons is referring to is the Arena Football team that he and Stanley have a stake in as part of the team’s membership group. The team will play at the Honda Center in Anaheim in March.
The group, best known for hits like “Detroit Rock City” and “Rock and Roll All Nite” plus their outrageous costumes, was picked to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They will be among the Class of 2014, which also includes Hall & Oates, Nirvana and Cat Stevens. The ceremony takes place on April 10 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
