Larry King has succeeded Freddie Roman as the new dean of the Friars Club for the next two years. The former Larry King Live host will help oversee the famous celebrity roasts.
King, 80, will assist the Friars Club board of directors and abbot Jerry Lewis, 87, with the famous club’s duties, such as dinners and roasts.
AP reports King joins the list of previous deans such as William B. William, Jack L. Green and Harry Delf.
"I've been a Friar for many years and at one time served as Abbot of the Friars of Beverly Hills. I am honored to be asked to be Dean of the Friars," King said in a statement, Broadway World reports. "I grew up in Brooklyn, so this is like coming home. It's a great group with an important foundation that serves in many areas. So now --- I'm Dean!"
In November 2012, King was given the Friars Club Award. His appointment to dean and president of the club will take place at an officially ceremony held at the Friars Club.
