Lawyer Christopher Gossage has been fined £1,000 ($1,642) for revealing Harry Potter author JK Rowling was the author behind the book The Cuckoo’s Calling, which she published under a pen name of Robert Galbraith.
Gossage reportedly spilled the beans and breached his contract when he told his wife’s good friend, who he said he told in confidence.
According to The Guardian, Rowling expressed her disappointment in being exposed as the author of the well-received book at the time of the leak, saying “To say I am disappointed is an understatement.
A tiny number of people knew my pseudonym and it has not been pleasant to wonder for days how a woman whom I had never heard of prior to Sunday night could have found out something that many of my oldest friends did not know."
Rowling said she wanted to get “totally unvarnished feedback” by working under a pen name.
Daily News notes Gossage also received a rebuke from Solicitors Regulation Authority for what he did.
