Actor Liam Neeson has been cast to headline in Martin Scorsese's next film, Silence.
Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield and Inception's Ken Watanabe have also been cast in the film, according to Deadline, who first reported the news.
Silence is based on Shusaku Endo's novel about a priest in the 17th century sent to look into reports of Jesuit missionaries being tortured in Japan, where they have been attempting to spread their religion.
Production is set to begin later this year in Taiwan based upon a script written by Jay Cock and Scorsese.
ABC 10 News reports the lawsuit over Silence was also settled on Friday, but no details have been revealed.
Scorsese had been sued for breach of contract in 2012 as producer Cecchi Gori felt the legendary director was simply continually pushing back work on the movie and Gori had already paid $750,000 to develop Silence.
He had argued that Scorsese had agreed to direct the film as early as 1990, but the film hadn't been moving forward, though last year it was reported that Scorsese was looking to try and begin work on Silence.
Scorsese's lawyers had argued that the deal had always been the movie would happen when he could secure financing for the film. They argued, "This is a case where (Scorsese) has paid plaintiffs over $3.5 million ... in connection with two of the last three motion pictures directed by Scorsese."
