A McDonald’s employee in Pittsburgh has been charged with selling heroin in Happy Meals at the drive-thru window.
According to KDKA, officials say they arrested the fast food worker after undercover narcotic agents set up a sting buy at the restaurant on Wednesday.
Shania Dennis of East Pittsburgh allegedly had a system in place where buyers could order the drugs in code at the drive-thru.
The Associated Press notes that Mike Manko, spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said that customers looking to purchase heroin would pull up and say, "I'd like to order a toy.” They would then pay for the drug and receive it in a Happy Meal box.
Police said that the 26-year-old Dennis had 50 bags on her at the time of her arrest.
Authorities do not believe that the heroin recovered is the same type that is combined with fentanyl, the lethal combination that is being blamed for several deaths in Allegheny County.
