Former U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that he is ready to “move on” after Melissa Harris-Perry, and MSNBC reporter made a joke about his grandchild during a live broadcast.
According to Time, the reporter mocked a Christmas card with a photo of Mitt Romney holding his black grandchild. Harris-Perry said, “A lot of people had emotions about this baby picture this year…one of these things is not like the others.”
After making the remark, Harris-Perry made a heartfelt apology on Twitter, saying that she meant no offense. Harris-Perry, who is African-American, is the third MSNBC host to apologize for insensitive comments in the past two months. She is a profesor of political science at Tulane University.
"They apologized for it, and that's all you can ask for," Romney said on 'Fox News Sunday', according to Reuters.
This seemed like an unwarranted political attack, as children of politicians are usually considered off-limits. Throughout the 2012 campaign, Romney’s adult children were not targets of Democratic attacks.
Romney has been leading a private life after the 2012 election loss, and spending time with family.
