Morrissey is looking to build some momentum after recently releasing his successful Autobiography. The singer said during a Q&A session with fans that he plans on writing a novel and is working on a new album.
During the session on his official True To You site, Morrissey said that since his autobiography was so successful, he’s already working on another literary work. According to NME, he said that he’s “mid-way through my novel,” adding, “I have my hopes.”
Later, the outspoken animal rights activist also touched on his lack of faith in the modern music industry. “The actuality is that radio stations will not play my music, and the majority of people have lost faith in the music industry, and it's generally assumed - quite rightly - that the number one chart positions are ‘bought’ by the major labels,” he explained. “So there really is no passion left in pop or rock music, and I don't think people believe for an instant that the faces we constantly see on television and in magazines are remotely popular.”
Morrissey said that he is already recording new music and his next album will include a song named after his second-favorite city, Istanbul. “When I'm in Istanbul I feel as if I could never die. My life is matched,” he said.
Morrissey’s most recent studio album is 2009’s Year of Refusal.
