NBC News has come out and denied claims that the network has been refusing to renew Ann Curry's contract.

A spokeswoman told The Wrap the reports from RadarOnline are wrong. "It's completely untrue, and, as a matter of fact, she's going on a big assignment for NBC News this week." The statement is exactly the same one that was given to FOX411, according to Fox News.

NBC News is scrambling to debunk a story that was reported by RadarOnline claiming that the network had decided to not renew her yearly $12 million deal.

It was also reported just last week that Curry was actually asking to be released by the network as she has been frustrated with her treatment and role at the network, especially after being replaced on Today by Savannah Guthrie.

Curry has since become NBC News National and International Correspondent and the Anchor at Large for Today.

Fox News notes some speculated her removal was actually at the behest of co-anchor Matt Lauer as he supposedly didn't like her much.
