A Suburban Chicago woman mistakenly received a Christmas present sent from the Obama family.
According to the Associated Press, Alane Church told NBC’s “Today” show that she found a book, which contained photos of the First Family, in the bottom of one of the packages her uncle opened on New Year’s Day.
The Washington Times reported that the gift was meant for and addressed to “Mama Kaye,” the nickname of Sasha and Malia’s godmother. The gift tag read from “Barack, Michelle and the girls.”
Church was surprised that the gift ended up in her possession and wants to return it to the rightful recipient.
The gift is a personal photo album of the Obama family. Church has not shown anyone the photos and would not open the book on the air.
“We are sort of wanting to keep it private for Mama Kaye,” she said. “It’s very special, very special. Private moments of their year 2013 together.”
The White House acknowledged that the package was sent to the wrong address, but did not offer up a further explanation.
