A teen runaway was shot in the wrist by police at a Hawaii high school after he became violent with three officers.
According to the Associated Press, authorities have said that the 17-year-old cut one officer with a knife and punched two others Tuesday.
Emergency Medical Services Division confirmed to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that the boy was taken to an area hospital for his injury and that the officers he allegedly attacked sustained minor injuries, but remained on the scene.
Maj. Richard Robinson of the Honolulu Police Department said that the officers were called to Roosevelt High School at around 8:30 a.m. after the runaway showed up there. When the boy was approached, he resisted the officers and pulled out a knife.
The high school was put on lockdown as a result of the incident and had concerned parents rushing to the school.
Roosevelt high school is located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu in the capital city of Honolulu. It will be in session as usual tomorrow.
No other students were injured.
