Penelope Cruz is gearing up for her first film with Spanish director Julio Medem. She will be co-producing and starring in Ma ma.

Ma ma tells the story of Magda. A press release on Tuesday announced, “She and those in her intimate circle will live unsuspected scenes of humor and of delicate happiness,” according to Variety. Cruz is going to co-produce the film with Morena Films, a production house based in Madrid. Ma ma will shoot in Spain in Spanish. Alvaro Longoria will be acting as the executive producer.

Penelope Cruz was born in Madrid, and is known in the United States for her roles in The Counselor, To Rome with Love, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Gothika. As a producer, she has previously worked on Twice Born and La reina de Espana.

Although he is also a writer and a producer, Julio Medem is best known as a director in Spain. He is currently working on a feature length biopic about designer Cristobal Balenciaga, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His other projects have included Room in Rome, Chaotic Ana, Earth, and The Red Squirrel.
