On Wednesday, during the President’s visit to North Carolina, he announced a plan to boost manufacturing jobs in country.

According to the White House website, President Obama announced the selection of a North Carolina headquartered consortium of 18 companies and 6 universities partnering with the federal government to strengthen U.S. manufacturing.

Channel 11 in Raleigh-Durham notes that in his speech the president said, “A new public-private effort to boost advanced manufacturing that attracts the kind of well-paying jobs that sustain a growing middle class.”

“Today, after almost a year of competition, I am pleased to announce America's newest high-tech manufacturing hub which is going to be focused on the next generation of power electronics is going to be based right here in Raleigh, North Carolina,” he told the crowd.

The Obama administration promised that this year they were going to focus on creating more jobs, therefore the announcement of more new hubs will be made in the upcoming weeks.

The White House.gov website also notes that manufacturing production has grown at its fastest pace in over a decade and the President is committed to building on that progress.
