Prince is known for hunting down anyone who doesn't properly credit him for his material and this situation is no different. Prince filed a lawsuit on January 16 is the US District Court for the Northern District of California claiming 22 fans posted links of downloads for Prince videos.

The lawsuit claims that the defendants "engaged in massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince's material. The fans are being sued for $1 million each for copyright infringement.

Dan Chodera and Karina Jindrova are two Facebook users who started a Prince fan page where they provided links to his live performances. Other fans were named but only by their internet usernames.

According to Consequence of Sound, Prince's legal team wants a jury trial. Prince also wants any profits made from the material.

Prince has never been a fan of the internet. He publicly stated his dislike for iTunes and digital music.

In 2007, Prince wanted a video removed from YouTube. The video was a 30 second video of a woman's, Stephanie Lenz's 16 month old son dancing to his song, "Let's Go Crazy." The mother received an email from YouTube informing her that the video was removed due to the request of Universal Music Publishing Group.
