The Producers Guild of America has announced its nominees for best film productions of the year. The guild also released the list of television and animated nominees.
American Hustle, which was produced by Megan Ellison, Jon Gordon, Charles Roven and Richard Suckle; 12 Years A Slave, produced by Anthony Katagas, Jeremy Kleiner, Steve McQueen, Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner; and Gravity, produced by Alfonso Cuaron and David Heyman were among the expected nominees. Ellison earned two nominations, since she’s also a producer on Spike Jonze’s Her with Jonze and Vincent Landay.
The other nominees are: Blue Jasmine (Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum); Captain Phillips (Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca, Scott Rudin); Dallas Buyers Club (Robbie Brenner, Rachel Winter); Nebraska (Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa); The Wolf of Wall Street (Riza Aziz, Emma Koskoff, Joey McFarland) and Saving Mr. Banks (Ian Collie, Alison Owen, Philip Steuer).
It was interesting to see which producers the PGA did not include on their list of nominees. According to The Hollywood Reporter, star Leonardo DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese are credited as producers on The Wolf of Wall Street, but they were not among the nominees. New Regency's Arnon Milchan and River Road Entertainment's Bill Pohlad helped finance 12 Years, but they were left off the list.
The animated films nominated in that category are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University.
The nominees for the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Long-Form Television award are American Horror Story: Asylum, Behind the Candelabra, Killing Kennedy, Phil Spector and Top of the Lake.
The PGA Awards are handed out on Jan. 19 at the Beverly Hilton. Fruitvale Station will be presented the Stanley Kramer Award.
