Inside Llewyn Davis, the film by Joel and Ethan Coen, is looking towards receiving an Oscar nomination when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveils the nominees on Jan 16.
The Academy has roughly 6,000 members, and its voting system requires 300 votes in order to make the list of nominees this year. The producing team is hopeful as Inside Llewyn Davis, the story of a folk singer in Greenwich Village, already won the Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Scott Rudin, said that Inside Llewyn Davis can be understood as a movie-music hybrid. The movie’s producer told The New York Times, “The metaphoric landscape of the movie is all experienced in the music.”
An impressive line-up of performers, including Patti Smith, Carey Mulligan, and Oscar Isaac, took the stage at Town Hall in New York City in 2013 to celebrate music from the movie. The star-studded event was attended by Glenn Close, Jesse Eisenberg, and Paul Rudd, according to Daily Mail.
T-Bone Burnett is the executive music producer for the film.
