When people believe in a movement strongly, they ban together and protest their views. The protesters in Bangkok have gathered in such large numbers that they are literally prohibiting the city from fully functioning.
Their goal is to get the current Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to leave office, states Al Jazeera.
A group of this size surely needs a leader and especially one completely invested in the cause. "We will fight regardless of whether we win or lose. We will not compromise or accept negotiation," said Suthep Thaugsuban, leader of the protest reports Al Jazeera.
According to BBC,over six intersections have been obstructed by the protesters.
The citizens of Bangkok that seek an improvement in their politicians are passionate about the cause. The protesters want a change in government, because apparently they do not feel led on a productive path.
BBC reports that "We don't want to see the same old corrupted politicians returning to power over and over again," protester Darunee Suredechakul said.
About 8 million people live in Bangkok, according to Wikipedia, so this protest is affecting a lot of people.
As the election on February 2nd approaches, hopefully the people and the government of can work out their differences.
