Rick Carter will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at 18th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards.

John Shaffner, Art Directors Guild council chairman, in a statement, "Rick Carter's work as a production designer is among the best in the history of our profession. He personifies all the qualities of an artist and is the Guild's perfect choice this year to join the ranks of our Lifetime Achievers," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Carter has created awe-inspiring visuals since 1981. He defined his career with films like Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump, Castaway, War Horse, and Lincoln.

In addition to working with award-winning directors like Steven Speilberg, Carter has served on winning teams with visual effects designers. He praises the introduction of digital imagery, as it provides new options for production design. He told Variety that working with new technologies and visual effects designers gives him the possibility to create unforeseen worlds.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be given on Feb. 8. The event will be hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
