Legendary Dancehall star, Shabba Ranks, is said to be working on an album due sometime this year.

In an interview with Jamaica Observer, the Sturgetown native, born Rexton Rawlston Fernando Gordon, stated that he was working on a new album with a major label, and that, “...we will see how it goes in terms of a release.”

the 47-year old Grammy winner who, according toHip Hop Gossip Site,signed with Epic Records in 1991. After being dropped from Epic Records in 1996, he has been gone from the mainstream for 15 years; however, he has still been a beloved artist in his home country of Jamaica. In 2012, he performed at Reggae Sumfest, where he was given much love from his devoted fans.

In 2013, the artist was given mention in A$AP Ferg's song, “Shabba”, featuring A$AP Rocky. He was one of the first Jamaician deejays to gain worldwide attention with his music. His hits include “Housecall” and “Mr. Loverman, which you can listen to below:
