Rock band, Shinedown, has been working on their latest album and have announced that the new record will be released on January 28th.

The band took to their website to show appreciate for the fans that have supported this album and to announce details about the project.

The EP will be titled, Acoustic Sessions and will feature acoustic duo covers of songs by the Clash, the Black Crowes, Soul Asylum and Otis Redding, Billboard reported.

Smith & Myers will be releasing a music video of each cover on their YouTube channel to accompany the album.

Brent Smith spoke about the inspiration for the album, "They could put in any song they could think of that they wanted to hear me and Zach cover, and, no B.S., I think there was somewhere in the neighborhood of four or 5,000 songs submitted from people all over the world. It pretty much crashed our server every single day," said Smith.

The EP that will be released in January will only feature six tracks, even though the band recorded ten. The band faced a few legal issues with the cover songs that they had recorded.

Smith spoke about why the album would only feature six out of the ten tracks. "Eventually we will release all 10 songs, which will be great, it's not about money for us. We didn't write these songs. We did this for the audience and for the fans, and we know it's something they're gonna dig," said Smith.

The band released a special cover for fans on their YouTube of The Clash's "London Calling." Watch the cover here:
