As sunshine continues to persist on the West Coast of the United States, the Northeast remains icy and cold as the heaviest snowfall of the season hit the cities such as Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. Wednesday morning. With a foot of snow falling in some places, more than 1,400 flights have already been cancelled this morning according to USA Today. This brings the total of cancelled flights to 4,400 after 3,000 flights were cancelled Tuesday. Many weary travellers have begun to try to reschedule the flights home.
In addition to the cancelled flights, CNN reported that Amtrak would be running on a modified schedule due to the weather conditions causing Washington and Boston travelers to expect some delays.
Schools and offices have also been closed Wednesday with road delays due to the large amount of snow as well. This doesn’t appear to be the end of the cold for the Upper Midwest down through the Mid Atlantic with temperatures ranging from15 to 30 degrees below normal through the weekend.
