Sony Pictures has acquired the rights for Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's bestselling book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, scribe Nell Scovell has been tapped to adapt the book, she helped her write the book. Lean In sold 140,000 copies in the book's first week of release.
Sandberg's book looks at gender issues, especially inequality and still how little women are listened to in their workplace.
The Los Angeles Time notes that though the film will be based off Sandberg's book, she will not be featured as a character in the film.
Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton has been friends with Sandberg and he noted a couple years ago in an interview that she was had tried to get him to use Facebook to advertise their movies.
"Unlike any other executive, instead of just nodding her head, she and Facebook acted incredibly quickly by going off and forming a joint venture with Nielsen to devise a way to measure how effective our advertising would be on Facebook."
