A Southwest Airlines flight landed at the wrong airport in Missouri on Sunday. Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins confirmed the flight landed at Taney County airport when it was scheduled to land at Branson airport.
The airports are about seven miles apart and both located in southwest Missouri. Hawkins couldn’t confirm exactly why the pilot landed Southwest Flight 4013, coming from Chicago's Midway Airport, at the wrong place.
According to CNN, there were over 100 passengers on the flight and five crew members. The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the situation.
"The landing was uneventful, and all customers and crew are safe," said Hawkins, The AP reports.
This Southwest incident is the second time in less than two months that a plane has landed at the wrong airport, however, the previous flight had no passengers on it.
A Boeing 747 with a two-man crew landed at Col. James Jabara Airport in November when it was supposed to be 9 miles away at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan. to deliver parts.
