As companies have been announcing distribution rights from the Sundance Film Festival, a surprise came regarding the movie, Sepideh. Viewers found out that the feature length documentary from Danish director Berit Madsen is available on iTunes.
Apple’s ITunes will made Sepideh available to viewers in the United States and Canada on Tuesday. This is the first time that Apple has made a movie available while it is still playing at the Sundance Film Festival, according to the Associated Press.
Sepideh tells the story of Sepideh Hooshyar, a teenage girl who lives with her mother and brother in Sa’adat Shahr, a town in the southwestern province of Fars. She dreams of being an astronaut, despite the limitations of her culture and gender. It looks at the challenges of living in a conservative culture in Iran. The film features special nighttime and time-lapse photography by Babak Tefreshi, according to Variety.
The Sundance Film Festival will continue until Sunday in Park City, Utah. Sepideh was shown in the World Cinema Documentary Competition.
