A sushi mosaic created in Hong Kong has snagged a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
According to Reuters, over 100 sushi chefs created a mosaic covering an area of 37.57 square meters on Wednesday setting a new Guinness World Record.
Guinness notes that the previous record was held by Lerøy Seafood Group at the Fish Market in Bergen, Norway. That mosaic was 31.59 meters and contained 16,089 pieces of sushi, which is nothing compared to the 20,647 pieces used for the new record.
A sushi chain in Hong Kong attempted to break the record on the restaurant’s 10th anniversary. Every piece of sushi was arranged carefully to form and display the number 10, complete with a solid background.
Onlookers were allowed to enjoy some of the sushi after the number of pieces were recorded.
The individual pieces were made with salmon and tuna.
The mosaic was created in temperatures of -4 to ensure that the sushi remained fresh.
