Around 1:30 p.m., South Carolina State University student, 20, Brandon Robinson was shot outside the Andrew Hugine Dorms. Four suspects are being searched for.
South Carolina State University Police Chief Mernard Clarkson said that no suspects have been identified, however at Claflin University, which is across of the street from the University, issued an alert to their students when someone identified one suspect as Justin Bernard Singleton of Charleston, according to Greenville Online. The alert that was sent out to Claftin students was taken away after no threat appeared.
According to ABC News , Chief Clarkson said the perimeter of the campus was secure if the suspects tried to return, as well as parents should not be worried. All of the students were safe.
This shooting comes after a shooting at Purdue University on Tuesday. Cody Cousins, 23, shot and stabbed Andrew Boldt, 22, in an engineering building on campus. Both were TA’s for the same professor.
South Carolina State University is in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and is a historically an African American college.
