In a recent interview, Kanye West talks openly about his craft, his past and his dreams. The 36 year old rapper has had his fair share of bad publicity and interviews for the past few years, but this one sheds a new light on West's character.
12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen, teamed up with Interview to talk to Kanye between stops on his Yeezus tour. "I think that when I compare myself to Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Howard Hughes, or whoever, it's because I'm trying to give people a little bit of context to the possibilities that are in front of me, as opposed to putting me in the rap category that the Grammys has put me in," said West. "In no way do I want to be the next any one of them. But I am the first me. So I only mention those other names to try to give people a little bit of context."
When asked what being recognized meant to him, West responded, " I want the power to create what is in my mind. That's my dream. I want to be able to have a thought or an idea and bring it into reality."
In the lengthy interview, Wes an McQueen covered topics like the Taylor Swift incident, his goals with Yeezus and his upcoming collaboration with Rick Rubin and Q-Tip.
