This Week in Hip-Hop, Kanye West is now a suspect in a battery investigation, OutKast will play 40 festivals in 2014 and a Tupac inspired musical is set to hit broadway this summer!

Kanye West is a suspect in a battery investigation for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old guy. According to TMZ, the 18-year-old was helping Kim Kardashian enter the Beverly Hills Medical Center after she was surrounded by paparazzi upon her arrival. Apparently, the guy used some vulgar racial slurs in reference to the paparazzi. When asked by Kardashian not to use certain words, the guy started verbally assaulting her. TMZ reports that Kardashian then placed a phone call, but as soon as the guy realized that she was talking to West he began to yell racial slurs over the phone. Within minutes after arriving to the Medical center sources say that West punched the 18-year-old guy in the face and that Kardashian yelled, "We got it all on tape" before leaving.

A couple of months ago we announced that there were rumors of an OutKast reunion looming. Now we can officially say that the rumors are true! OutKast will be playing Coachella this spring and according to
Rolling Stone
they will also play at 39 other music festivals. So far, we know that they will be headlining Coachella, New York City's Governors Ball and Firefly Music Festival. One half of OutKast, Big Boi, spoke kind words in a statement, "It's truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose…I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans, stank you smelly much. This is for y'all!" Andre 3000 also expressed his appreciation for the fans, "I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting Outkast."

The Tupac inspired musical, 'Holler If You Hear Me' will open in the summer. According to Rolling Stone, the musical will not focus on Tupac's life and tragic death but more about "friendship, family, revenge, change and hope." Writer Todd Kreidler say thats the script will focus on the lives of childhood friends living in poverty and trying to discover their dreams. It will be directed by Tony-award winner Kenny Leon, T.V. producer Eric L. Gold and theater producer Chin Sun Soo. It will also be produced by Tupac's mother, Afeni. The show will open on June 19, 2014.
