Two brothers have been sentenced for their roles in the stabbing deaths of five people at a Denver bar.
According to the Associated Press, Joseph Hill was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday, after pleading guilty to five counts of first-degree murder in the 2012 slayings.
The Denver Post reported that his brother, Lynell Hill was sentenced to 70 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree murder, aggravated robbery and first-degree arson.
Both brothers accepted plea agreements to avoid the death penalty.
According to prosecutors, the Hill brothers and another man, Dexter Lewis entered Fero’s Bar and Grill on Oct. 17, 2012 and ordered the patrons to lay on the ground and hand over their credit cards before they killed them and set a fire to cover up the deaths.
Lewis is accused of fatally stabbing each of the victims. The brothers will testify against him at his trial and prosecutors will seek the death penalty.
