Two women in Maryland were charged with killing two children. 28-year-old Zakieya Latrice Avery was charged in the death of two children along with 21-year-old Monifa Denise Sanford.
The kids who died were a one-year-old and a two-year-old, according to SeattlePI.
According to Philly, the two women believed they were performing an exorcism.
The two women also allegedly tried to kill the children's siblings, who are eight and five. The children who survived were treated for their injuries in a hospital.
Avery tried to escape from a townhouse near a vehicle that had a knife laying outside an open door. The sight of the knife caused a neighbor to call 911, and the police arrived at the home of the scene on Friday.
In a statement released by the police, they said that the two women "believed they were performing an exorcism" and that there will be an investigation.
Sanford and Avery are each facing two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. There is no bond being held for them.
