There are many people waking up this morning with the infamous New Year hangover. How do you avoid or remedy the awful headache and sensitivity to light and sound the next morning?
Dr. Noah Rosen told WebMD that the best way to avoid a hangover is to not drink alcohol. Well, duh, but we all like to have a drink from time to time.
Rosen recommends to drink in moderation if you do choose to drink during the holidays. You should eat beforehand and during the party to keep your blood sugar level. Also, darker alcohols will contribute to a hangover headache.
Taking an aspirin or a Tylenol before going to sleep can also aid in avoiding that hangover headache, according to Rosen.
Discover Health made a list of helpful things to avoid the day after hangover. Number one seems like a no brainer. Hydrate! However, some say that tomato juice [or a cup of water] with salt and sugar before you go to bed and as soon as you get up with remedy and possibly completely avoid a hangover.
Another way to ease your hangover the next day is to soak in a wasabi bath. Sounds kind of crazy, but wasabi has the power to increase your blood circulation and promotes oxygenation throughout your cells.
Another helpful tip is to finish the night with a shot of wheatgrass instead of tequila. Wheatgrass helps detoxify the body and will help you avoid a hangover the next day.
