Shelia Eddy, 18, from Morgantown, WV, was sentenced to life in prison with a chance for parole after she stabbed her friend, Skylar Neese to death.
Eddy pleaded guilty to first degree murder. According to WBOY, the plea agreement is part of a deal that Pennsylvania will not prosecute Eddy for hiding the body in Greene County. The other charges, kidnapping and two counts of conspiracy, were dropped.
In July of 2012, Eddy and Rachael Shoaf lured Neese out of her apartment in Star City, and stabbed her in unincorporated West Virginia community of Macdale, then covered her body with branches across the Pennsylvania boarder, according to the Associated Press.
Authorities caught a break when Shoaf broke and told the police what had happened, and where to find the girl’s body. Shoaf later pleaded guilty to second degree murder, which is 40 years in prison, which Neese’s family thought was acceptable since the girl had cooperated.
Reports came through that Neese had run away, but after following up on those rumors, the authorities concluded that those leads were empty. Neese’s parents never gave up hope. Dave, Neese’s father, said, “There's always hope that things are going to turn up better than they think it's going to turn out but when they came and told us, that they, it was a lot of tears and heartache."
