The Broadway sensation, Wicked, has broken another record, this time by pulling in a one week total of $3.2 million in gross ticket sales. The show made $3,201,333 and now holds the record of highest one-week sales.

The musical story of how the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of OZ came to be recently celebrated its 10th anniversary on Broadway and the musical is still going strong.

Wicked is the first Broadway musical to break the $3 million mark, the previous record was held by Spider Man: Turn off the Dark which made a little under $3 million in a week, Broadway World reported.

Wicked currently has nine productions around the world and two concurrent North American National Tours.

Since the show premiered in New York staring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, it has grossed over $3.2 billion worldwide has been seen by over 39 million people around the globe, Variety reported.

The rise of premium ticket pricing has also helped Broadway shows to increase their numbers when it comes to ticket sales.
