Wildfire near Los Angeles is 84% contained. Full containment is expected on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
The blaze blackened nearly 1,900 acres and destroyed more than five homes and 10 outbuildings. The fire centered in the San Gabriel Mountains on land that is part of the Angeles National Forest.
The wildfire caused homeowners to evacuate. Approximately 3,500 residents followed orders from the police department to leave their houses. As of Saturday, they were able to return to their homes. U.S. Forest Service spokesman Robert Brady said on Saturday, "It's not spreading anymore," according to Reuters.
Authorities now believe that three men originally set the fires. Bail was set at $500,000 for each of the men, who were jailed on Thursday on suspicion of recklessly starting the fire.
Many factors contributed to keeping the fires burning. Officials thought that Santa Ana winds fanned the flames. Officials also said that dry weather conditions remain a threat for the region. They noted that the area has suffered from drought for some time.
