Winter storms continue to hit the Northeast, with New York and New Jersey preparing for the possibility of up to 10 inches of snow on Thursday.
Snow is not the only thing people have to prepare for, reports The Wall Street Journal, as wind gusts of up to 25 to 30 mph are also expected as well and the wind chill is likely to remain below zero during this time. Snow is expected in the early evening hours, with the wind picking up until the next morning.
"It's going to be dangerous to be outside during the overnight hours," National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Morrin said. "Exposed skin could start to freeze within 15 minutes."
Morrin added that the snow is expected to be "loose" and "powdery," which could affect visibility and warns against driving during the night.
Meanwhile, other parts of the Northeast have already been hit, with Michigan getting close to a foot of snow in places and Illinois getting six inches, according to Fox News.
The recent weather has already caused 1,700 flights to be cancelled on Thursday and 3,000 delayed. New Jersey's Newark Liberty International and Chicago O'Hare have been the site of most of the cancellations for travelers. The day before also saw several hundred cancelled or delayed flights.
