A Michigan woman convicted of filing a false rape report will serve time behind bars.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Sara Ylen was sentenced to two to four years in prison for filing a false report and three to five years for tampering with evidence.
The Associated Press reported that in 2012, Ylen filed a report and told police that she was raped and attacked by two men in her Lexington home.
In an effort to gain more sympathy, the 38-year-old lied and said that she was battling cancer. She even accepted money from people for her “hospice” care.
The two men Ylen accused of raping her testified at the trial that they were at work at the time of the supposed attack.
On Dec. 5, it took a jury less than 30 minutes to deliberate and find Ylen guilty of all charges.
The Free-Press notes that on Monday, she pleaded no contest to separate health care fraud charges. The judge handed down her prison sentence on Friday.
