12 Years a Slave brought home four winds at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday.
Lupita Nyong'o told the Associated Press, "It's been a historical year in film for all of us in this room, and I'm so proud to be a part of that history. It's such an honor to be recognized for a film that has meant so much to so many people, a film that has inspired discourse long overdue."
Other winners of the evening included Kevin Hart and Kerry Washington. It was Kerry Washington’s fifth image award. She brought home the award for the ABC’s Scandal. On the show, she plays the crisis management consultant Olivia Pope.
