Apple iPhone users may need to update the security on their phones, reports say.
According to The Guardian Liberty Voice, a new security flaw has recently been discovered causing iPads and iPhones to allow hackers access to private emails and passwords.
This flaw is vulnerable with security certificates (electronic security processes that are used to verify a user and allow access with proper identity confirmation) and is associated with “trusted certificate authorities.”
The certificates contain vital information for the Apple product user but with this new flaw, any website can connect without it checking or verifying the security certificates first.
Matthew Green, a John Hopkins University cryptography professor, told Reuters, “It’s as bad as you could imagine, that’s all I can say.”
However, since Apple realized their products were under attack, the company released a new update that fixed the security error. iPhone 4 or later users, iPad 2,3, Air and iPod touches all need to be updated as soon as possible to prevent the risk of an attack.
Users who use the OSX Mac operating system are still vulnerable to these attacks. Apple has yet to release an update for its computer operating system.
