Frontman for Christian heavy-metal band, As I Lay Dying, plead guilty on Tuesday to his assistance in attempted murder of his wife.

Tim Lambesis confessed to hiring a man to kill his wife and now faces a maximum of nine years in prison, along with a $10,000 fine, according to ABC 10 News

Last May, undercover policemen arrested Lambesis in San Diego after he sought out a hitman to kill Meggan, his wife of eight years who wanted to end their marriage the previous September.

Lambesis gave $1,000 in cash to the undercover detective as well as a plan on how to murder Meggan. After he was arrested, he pleaded not guilty at the arraignment, where the judge set bail at $3 million dollars. Lambesis also had a GPS monitoring system given to him but was later released on bail for $2 million.

Lawyer of the hardcore singer told reporters that Lambesis had been on steroids the past month and during the time he hired the policeman. At the same time, news surfaced that Lambesis had written Meggan a letter, admitting that he no longer had feelings for her and his faith in God diminished. Meggan learned that he had a girlfriend at the time and that he multiple affairs throughout their marriage.

The couple had adopted three kids from Ethiopia and in her divorce filing, she stated her worry of Lambesis’ ability to care for their children. She claims that he is too obsessed with body-building and spending thousands of dollars on getting tattooed.

The court decided in September that Lambesis would have to go to trial for the planned murder for his wife. Even his own person trainer testified with the statement, “he wanted to know if maybe I could find someone to do it for him,” as reported in NBC San Diego.

The popular hardcore group put out their last album in 2012, called Awakened. The fanbase has been left shocked due to Lambesis’ actions.
