The indie rock U.K. import Band of Skulls just released a video for their new single “Nightmares” which plays out to be more of a thriller movie than a music video.

With bloodied hands, a man stands in front of his car headlights, trying to wash them off. Is it evidence? Did he just commit a crime? We then flash back to a happier time for the man as he and his love interest spend their time together, laughing, cuddling, but then we see darker times of fighting and sorrow. After the woman moves out, the man goes to a bar she works at, and the rest is left up the imagination of the viewer.

Band of Skulls has a fairly unique sound, with airy vocals that can still pack a punch, and an indie sound resonated by pop sensibilities. “Nightmares” also features bass player Emma Richardson’s darkly ethereal vocal harmonies against Russell Marsden’s gently gritty vocals.

“Nightmares” comes off of the trio’s upcoming release, Himalayan, hitting the U.S. at the end of March. This is Band of Skulls third album, after their critically acclaimed sophomore effort, Sweet Sour. The SXSW veterans will play only two shows stateside, in Los Angeles and New York, before trekking through Europe until May.
