Singer Beck Hansen waxes philosophical as he discusses his most recent album, Morning Phase.
The singer told the Associated Press, “There's a point where a kind of pessimistic view can take hold and be a means of survival. And I'm sure anybody encounters those forks in the road where you can go one way or the other, and believe me life is nudging you toward the other direction… this record in some sense was grappling with that and taking a long hard look at everything and trying to find something redemptive."
Beck began working on the new album Morning Phase in 2008 in Nashville. The album is released on Beck new label, Capitol Records. The album is the second one that he has released in a decade.
Beck, 43, is planning to go back into the studio to release a second album later this year. He has been live performing recently, after coming back from a spinal injury that kept him from making music for a good part of the last 10 years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beck will play the Pitchfork Music Festival from July 18-20 in Chicago.
