Men from “hipster” Brooklyn neighborhoods such as Williamsburg, Park Slope and Bushwick, are rushing their bare faces to doctors, in hopes of growing the perfect beard.
Dr. Jeffrey Epstein has preformed beard transplants for over 12 years and normally takes on three transplants per week in both Manhattan and Miami.
Brooklyn hipster types, to the men of the business world all aim to have a wholesome beard—that look is definitely in at the moment. Why suffer from a patchy and uneven beard when you can pay for a perfect one?
Men with scars on their faces and Hasidic Jews with weak beards are common customers of the procedure.
"I couldn't believe how much I had changed over the years and that I no longer looked like myself," said 39-year-old New Yorker who underwent the procedure. "I had contemplated [getting a beard transplant] for approximately eight months. Knowing the results, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time deciding," as reported in Gawker
The hair used in the procedure comes from the head of the patient and planted onto their bare faces. 8 hours worth of time and enduring anesthesia is all patients have to encounter, according to DNA Info
Afterwards, the hair may fall out, but it will regrow due to the newly planted roots.
Results should be seen in less than a month. At that point, newly bearded clients can shave and treat their new beard as if they grew it naturally.
For facial hair fill-ins, it costs $3,000 while full beards cost $7,000.
