Authorities in Southern California said that a man was sitting in a tree in his backyard taking pictures of the sunset on Saturday and was electrocuted when he touched a power line.
According to the New York Daily News, the Orange County Coroner's Office has reported that David Strohm Jr., of Tustin, was found dead in the tree on Sunday morning after his family spent the previous night looking for him.
The family members called his phone and even went door-to-door asking neighbors if they had seen him. Just after 8:30 a.m. they made the gruesome discovery in the backyard and called 911.
CBS Los Angeles noted that officials have said that the 28-year-old man was killed instantly.
“After he took the pictures and posted them on Facebook, he came in contact with some power lines up in the tree,” said Fire Authority Captain Steve Concialdi.
"Our hearts go out to the family," he said. "It was a very tragic scene."
