A middle school teacher in California was arrested on Friday on suspicion on child molestation.
Melissa Lindgren, 28, a teacher at Fullerton Middle School, was arrested Friday after two students came forward with the abuse that occurred. The students reportedly told a counselor that the teacher molested them, sent them sexually explicit texts, and nude pictures of herself, according to The New York Daily News.
“This occurrence is in direct conflict of Fullerton School District zero-tolerance policy on staff misconduct, where the District's teachers, faculty and staff are held to a higher standard,” a statement released by Fullerton School District said.
In the statement, Lindgren admitted her guilt and it was stated that this was an ‘isolated incident’, however, school officials are working with the authorities to determine if other children were victimized and they have made it clear that Lindgren will not be welcome back in their district.
"Ultimately, we will pursue termination, and it is an administrative law judge who makes that decision. But she will not be teaching with our kids at our district,” Superintendent Bob Pletka said CBS Los Angeles.
Lindgren was charged with multiple felonies, including child molestation, child annoyance and “dissemination of harmful matter to a minor.” She was released on $100,000 bail.
Lindgren has been placed on administrative leave.
