The Academy of Country Music is putting together a tribute show for military veterans and has enlisted a roster full of country music stars to perform. ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops will take place in April and will air on CBS in May.
Salute to the Troops will be produced by Dick Clark Productions and is scheduled for April 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. CBS will air the two-hour special over a month later on May 20.
The acts lined up so far include Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum and The Band Perry. Country legends George Strait and Merle Haggard will also perform.
“We are so thankful for the men and women in our armed forces and proud to present this fantastic night of performances in their honor,” ACM CEO Bob Romeo said in a statement. “The special will be a remarkable moment in Academy history and continues the ACM Presents TV specials that have been so successful over the years and helps to fund the important charitable work of ACM Lifting Lives.”
Ticket sales will go to ACM’s charity, ACM Lifting Lives. During the special, there will be heartwarming moments and stories from veterans.
Barry Adelman is producing the show and the executive producing team includes Romeo, Allen Shapiro, Mike Mahan and R.A. Clark.
