When a musician reaches musical legend status, one might think that they would want to relax and take a break but for Charlie Wilson he is determined to work even harder.

Wilson is currently working on a new album that will focus on having more uptempo and heavy singles, Billboard reported.

"I'm waiting to go back into the studio to come up with really, really great uptempo records that I've been wanting to do since the Gap Band days," Wilson explained about his upcoming album.

The musician also recently worked with Kanye West on "Bound 2," even though the duo recorded many more songs with West. "We cut a lot of records. 'Bound 2' is the one he kept. That's the one that stuck out," said Wilson.

Wilson has had a strong impact on the rap and R&B community but in a recent interview he explained that he didn't foresee his influence lasting for so long, if it all, Rap Basement added.

"When we was recording records as The Gap Band, I didn’t have a clue that we’d be around or that we would inspire so many people. I didn’t ever think that I would still be here. First of all, I didn’t think I would make it this far. Let’s just get that straight. I thought that I would be dead a long time ago, but God had a different plan for me," said Wilson.
