The Cincinnati Reds locked up their starting pitcher, Homer Bailey, by signing him to a contract worth $105 million over six years.
According to NBC Sports, there is also a mutual option for a seventh year in the deal. Bailey finished with an 11-12 record in 2013 with a 3.49 earned run average and 199 strikeouts in 209 innings.
Bailey also threw the second no-hitter of his career in 2013, according to ESPN.
Bailey was selected by the Reds in the 2004 draft with the seventh overall pick, and he was named their top prospect before the 2007 season.
He initially appeared to be a bust after he disappointed in his first two seasons, but he made 20 starts in 2009 and improved his ERA to 4.53. His breakout season came in 2012 when he won a career-high 13 games with a 3.68 ERA and 168 strikeouts.
The Reds will look to win another National League Central title as Bailey hopes to build on his 2013 season. The Reds are coming off being bounced out by their division rival Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card Game.
