A cruise ship worker has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman, beating her and trying to push her off a Holland America Cruise vessel.

According to the Associated Press, crew member Ketut Pujayasa, was arrested Sunday after a woman accused him of sexually and physically assaulting her before trying to throw her overboard the MS Nieuw Amsterdam.

CNN reported that a complaint alleges that the female passenger cursed at the 28-year-old Pujayasa when he brought her room service. He later returned to her room and entered with his master key.

Once inside, the two fought vigorously, but the 31-year-old woman was able to escape and get help from another passenger.

She sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.

The cruise line released the following statement.

“At Holland America Line, the safety of our guests is our highest priority, and we are shocked and deeply saddened by this incident. To our knowledge, no incident like this has occurred in our company’s 140-year history.”
