Disney Interactive, the video game and digital media subsidiary of Disney, will soon be laying off about 200 employees. The layoffs are a result of the restructuring that began last fall. Disney Interactive parted ways with Co-president John Pleasants in November.
The layoffs are expected to start within the next two to three works, Deadline reported.
The LA Times detailed that the division of Disney has lost more than $200 million a year between 2008 and 2012.
An official at the California Employment Development Department said that Disney Interactive division had not given notice of any layoffs in 2014.
Chairman and chief executive of Disney, Robert A. Iger, has often spoke about the goal of making this division of Disney profitable. Back at a press conference last year in February, he said, "Profitability at Disney Interactive has been a goal of ours in 2013" but the company has only lost money since that press conference.
On Wednesday Disney will release their quarterly financial results.
Back in September of 2012 the company laid off 50 of their employees.
